well, here we are at the beginning of the final week - the push week. on thursday and friday we had our fight choreographer with us to stage and pace the violence. there are four moments in the show that have stage combat [one involving a frying pan!]. matt ellis [who teaches movement and stage combat at OU] got it all looking very authentic and "real." on sunday we had our day-long tech rehearsal. it's called a "10 out of 12" because we work ten out of twelve hours with a 2-hour break [for dinner] in the middle. our sound designer - steve emerson - was down from kansas city to plug in sound. we're using music for the scene transitions [featuring one beloved rock artist.] as well, working with our lighting designer jason foster, we have all the "looks" for the scenes decided upon. tonight, we introduce costumes for the first time. and the set continues to be worked on. this is the part of the process i love best. the coming together of all the elements and how that informs the work we're doing!
